Monday, June 20. 2005Refugee March ContinuesDespite the deal struck in Canberra our refugee system has not been made more humane at the stroke of a pen.
Many injustices remain such as the rampant behaviour of the Immigration Department, the continuation of the iniquitous Temporary Protection Visa's and Mandatory Detention remains. Thats why a group of my fellow ALP Members - including staff from my office - joined the march in support of refugee rights in inner Melbourne yesterday. The group included a number of Past and Present office holders in the party, as well as rank and file members such as the talented Paula Rizzuto who wore her Labor for Refugees t-shirt. Trackbacks

If only more ALP members had blogs!
OT: I have prepared an online petition opposing Costello's planned tax cut regime here. Please sign if you agree with the content, and forward the URL to anyone else whom you think might be interested. Given Fergusons comments (he is the alternative to fat guts Vanstone) and the fact the ALP started up mandatory detention you have a cheek - ps any bullets in the mail???
Who is Peter Robertson?
Elizabeth,
Peter Robertson is the Convenor of the Local Greens Political Party and seems to spend a fair bit of his time online slanging insults at ALP members and the like. Its a pity - many local ALP members would like a much more constructive dialogue with teh Greens on issues we agree with but with the likes of Peter in charge they don't seem to be interested.
